A very common complaint that our Franklin dentist hears from patients is that their teeth look old and worn, or have become dull and discolored or stained. Perhaps there is a little chip or fine crack on the front teeth. Often our doctor at A Dental House will recommend dental veneers as a remedy for all these complaints. Veneers are thin sheets of porcelain that cover the front of the tooth, they can be either the color of the tooth or if the tooth is stained the color of the adjacent teeth so the veneer blends in. Often veneers are placed on several of the front teeth to whiten the whole smile.
Veneers are very thin so their application usually requires no grinding down of the tooth’s material to fit them on. Our Franklin dentist applies veneers in a simple two-visit process. On the first visit our doctor will evaluate the patient’s mouth to see if veneers are right for them and discuss all aspects of the treatment. Next our doctor will create a precise mold of your mouth and teeth and determine the shade of white desired. The mold will be sent to the lab where the veneers will be custom created. During the patient’s second visit the veneers will be “tried on” for fit and color and minor adjustments may be done. Once everything is correct the veneers will be permanently bonded into place. There is no pain to the patient and since the veneers are so thin there is usually no need to get used to them.
Veneers from our Franklin dentist are extremely durable and patients using these innovative them are free to eat or drink anything they want, including sticky foods or chewing gum. Our doctor does remind our patients that it is still important to brush and floss regularly and to continue to come into the office for regular checkups and cleanings. After all, the veneers are just the front of your own teeth and will only last as long as your teeth do. Come into our office and find out if veneers can improve your smile.
